About Camping de la Forêt

Where do you go for Normandy at its greenest, without giving up a proper pool? To the forest of Jumièges. Camping de la Forêt is a 4-star campsite set in a bend of the Seine, inside the Parc Naturel Régional des Boucles de la Seine Normande. Trees, birdsong and the river nearby set the tone, and Jumièges Abbey is just a 600 m stroll away. What about the water? The covered pool measures 13x5 m and is heated, and the outdoor paddling pool, 9 m across and heated to 27°, comes with a climbing rock, a mushroom sprinkler and two slides. Sunbeds line the paddling pool, so parents can relax while the children splash. Both pools are open from early May to mid-September, daily 10:00-20:00. Where will you sleep? Choose rental accommodation or a spacious pitch with high hedges for privacy, many of them under the trees, with electricity and a water point. The sanitary blocks are very clean, and the play area with swing, gantry and slide, plus a games room, table tennis and pétanque, keeps children busy. In July and August, Friday evenings bring free events, and the bar is open all season. Is there more to do nearby? Plenty. Hire bikes on site and ride both banks of the Seine, hopping across on the free ferries. The Base de Loisirs Jumièges-Le Mesnil, with a supervised lake beach and a golf course, is about 3 km away, and Rouen is 25 km down the road. The drive is easy too: Calais is 237 km away and Utrecht 530 km. Book now and trade the motorway for a forest, a river and a heated pool.

Camping de la Forêt has two pools, and both are heated to 27°. The covered pool measures 13x5 m, so swimming is possible whatever the day brings. Outside, the round paddling pool is 9 m across and just 0.35 m deep, with a climbing rock, a mushroom sprinkler and two slides, and sunbeds are provided around it. Swimming is free and the pools are open from early May to mid-September, daily 10:00-20:00. There is no lifeguard on duty, so parents stay close to little swimmers. Swim shorts are not allowed in the pools, so pack proper swimming trunks.

The nearest swimming lake is at the Base de Loisirs Jumièges-Le Mesnil, about 3 km away by car or bike. Its beach is supervised, with lifeguards 11:00-19:00 at weekends from mid-June and daily in July and August. A Tiralo gives wheelchair users access to the water. The Seine itself flows beside the campsite, with free ferries for cycling trips.

The bar is open all season, and the snack bar serves takeaway bites in July and August. The on-site grocery sells fresh bread: order it the evening before and it is delivered at 08:00 the next morning, ready for a relaxed holiday breakfast. Simple, easy and perfect after a morning swim.
