Is there anything to do once the wrinkly-fingers stage hits? Plenty. The water park is the star of Les Alizés. The 60 m² indoor pool is heated to 27°C, comes with a whirlpool and is open daily 10:00-19:00. Outside, a 230 m² pool area with a maximum depth of 1.2 m includes a paddling pool for toddlers, plus three slides up to 10 m high. The lower slides are for children aged 6 and over, while the large slides need an age of 6 and a height of at least 1.20 m, and run mainly in summer. Wristbands are required, swim shorts are not allowed, and there is no lifeguard, so keep an eye on the little ones. Sunbeds and parasols are free, and changing cabins, shoe lockers and toilets are at hand.

The bar-restaurant is the social heart of the site, with the bar open until 20:30 in low season and until 22:45 in high season. In July and August a snack bar adds takeaway dishes, handy after a long beach day. Les Alizés sits on the western edge of Lannion, a medieval town on the Léguer river and the heart of an urban area of almost 60,000 inhabitants. Close by lies the Pink Granite Coast, about ten km of rose-coloured rocks between Perros-Guirec and Trébeurden. The climate is oceanic, so pack a rain jacket next to the sun cream and enjoy the quiet edge-of-town setting.
“We recommend packing proper swimming trunks, because board shorts are not allowed in the pools. The big slides are for adults and children aged 6 and over who measure at least 1.20 m, so we suggest measuring before the queue starts. For the full slide line-up we recommend July and August, when the large slides are running. On a grey morning we suggest the indoor pool, heated to 27°C and open daily 10:00-19:00, whirlpool included. A wristband is required in the water park and there is no lifeguard, so we recommend keeping a close eye on little swimmers. We recommend driving the 3.5 km to Beg Leguer beach and then walking a stretch of the GR34 coastal path. We suggest combining the Cité des Télécoms, Planétarium and Village Gaulois in Pleumeur-Bodou into one easy day out. Table tennis is free but equipment is not supplied, so we recommend bringing your own bats. Arriving late? An envelope with your gate badge and map waits at the reception door, and you collect your key the next morning. Towing a caravan?
