Wecamp Cala Montgó occupies a privileged coastal setting where pine forests meet the Mediterranean. Within 15 kilometres are golden beaches, secluded coves, rocky headlands and the rugged Montgrí Massif. The landscape around L’Escala combines coastal cliffs, Mediterranean scrub, farmland and wetlands, with the historic Empordà plain stretching inland. The Camí de Ronda provides spectacular sea-level walking routes.

“My first tip is simple: make the most of the location. Wecamp Cala Montgó is particularly rewarding for families who want their holiday to include more than swimming-pool time. Cala Montgó itself is close enough to walk to, and the coastal scenery around the resort is ideal for morning walks before the Mediterranean heat builds. For families with younger children, I would alternate beach mornings with the swimming pool. The pool is spacious and attractive, while the nearby beach provides a completely different experience with clear water and golden sand. The campsite's own restaurant, El Salat, is also worth trying rather than automatically heading into L’Escala every evening. Its Mediterranean menu includes tapas, rice dishes, grilled food, pasta and pizza, and there is a terrace surrounded by pine trees. If you enjoy active holidays, book a kayaking, snorkelling or diving experience. The coastline around L’Escala is particularly suited to discovering small coves from the water. Cyclists and walkers should also explore the Camí de Ronda, with the official coastal route running from Cala Montgó towards Sant Martí d’Empúries. One practical tip is to consider your accommodation position carefully. The site is naturally hilly and some areas are terraced, so families with very young children may prefer accommodation closer to the main facilities. Touring guests should also be aware that some pitches can be relatively compact or uneven. Finally, take advantage of the pine trees and sea breeze. Even during warmer periods, the coastal setting can feel noticeably fresher than inland Spain.”
