About Camping Bella Austria

What does a family holiday in the Styrian mountains look like? At Camping Bella Austria, a four-star campsite at 800 m in the Katschtal Valley, it looks like fresh bread for breakfast, a splash in a heated outdoor pool, a visit to the petting zoo and an evening with the Greim on the horizon. Meadows and forest wrap around the campsite, and the castle town of Murau is only 18 km away. Will the children have enough to do? Absolutely. Two outdoor playgrounds, a football field, ping-pong tables, a volleyball area and a games room fill the days, while in July and August a children's programme adds face painting, painting sessions and a mini-disco. Toddlers aged 1 to 3 have a 48 m² pool of their own, and everyone else heads for the 180 m² heated pool, where sunbeds and parasols are free of charge. And once everyone is dry? Hire a bike and explore the valley, hop on a horse-drawn carriage ride or retreat to the wellness area with its bio-sauna, Finnish sauna and infrared sauna. Dinner is easy at the campsite restaurant, which serves regional specialities and pizzas, and the ice-cream parlour handles dessert. Dogs are welcome on request, so the whole family, four-legged members included, can come along. Where do you stay? Choose a mobile home, or bring your own tent, caravan or camper to a pitch of 10 x 11 m with 16A electricity and water. Mountain days out are close at hand: the Günstner waterfalls at 13 km, the Oberwölz climbing park at 15 km and the Murtalbahn steam train at 20 km. Two outdoor pools make the summer here: a heated pool of 180 m² for the whole family and a 48 m² toddlers' pool for ages 1 to 3 (water under 40 cm). Both enjoy a mountain setting at 800 m. The pools open from mid-June to the end of August, weather permitting, from 10:00-19:00 and longer when the sun shines. Sunbeds and parasols are free of charge, babies and small children wear swim nappies, and the pools are for campsite guests. Swimming is unsupervised, so parents keep a close eye on the little ones. Fancy a change of scenery? The village pool is about 2.4 km away.

The campsite restaurant serves regional specialities and pizzas, with Austrian and European cuisine, vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free options, and takeaway too. The kitchen stays open until 21:30. Add a bar, an ice-cream parlour and a barbecue area, plus a baker who delivers fresh bread every morning, and every mealtime is covered.

Active families are spoilt for choice. On site you will find a football field, a volleyball area, ping-pong tables and bicycle hire including mountain bikes, plus horse-drawn carriage rides (extra charge). Further afield, the Oberwölz climbing park with 10 routes is 15 km away, cycling in Krakauschatten 20 km, and the 3D archery park at Zirbitzkogel offers a different challenge.

From July to August the children's programme runs daily: mini club, face painting, games, painting sessions, a mini-disco and baby dance, with sports tournaments for all ages. Reception is open from 08:00-20:00 in high summer. Arriving later? Let the campsite know in advance. Mobile homes are ready for check-in from 16:00 and check-out is by 10:00. A €100 deposit is paid in cash on arrival. Bicycle hire, mountain bikes and a baby room are available too.

Four-legged family members are welcome on request. In the mobile homes, dogs up to 35 kg cost €8 per day or €50 per week, plus a €20 cleaning fee, paid on site. On the pitches pets cost €2 per night, always on a lead and never left alone. The campsite has a dog shower and an agility course.
