About Camping Le Sainte Marie

Looking for a sunny family holiday beside the Mediterranean, without sacrificing plenty to do onsite? Camping Le Sainte Marie is an excellent choice. This four-star campsite occupies around 15 hectares of wooded, shaded grounds in Sainte-Marie-la-Mer, between the Mediterranean coast and the foothills of the Pyrenees. Perpignan is around 13 kilometres away, while the Spanish border is reachable in roughly 30 minutes. The big attraction is the 1,500 m² heated aquatic complex. There are two principal swimming pools, including a 25-metre swimming pool with diving board, plus a children's pool, paddling area, water games, geysers, waterfalls, balneotherapy features and three slides. The main aquatic area operates throughout the season, while the swimming pool is aimed at serious swimmers during the summer period. And the beach? A quieter wild beach is around 1 kilometre away, while the fine-sand public beach is approximately 2.5 kilometres away. Secure cycle paths make exploring the coast particularly enjoyable. What about the children? This is a particularly good match for families with children from around 4 to 15 years. There is a kids' club, teen programme in July and August, mini farm, playgrounds, football, beach volleyball, mini-golf, pétanque and table tennis. Adults meanwhile can enjoy aquagym, the restaurant, bar and relaxed Mediterranean evenings.

Get ready for plenty of splash-filled fun at the campsite’s impressive 1,500 m² aquatic complex, where there’s something for everyone from energetic swimmers to little water lovers. The main swimming area covers around 400 m² and features two outdoor pools, including a 25-metre swimming pool with a diving board and gently sloping access. Younger children have their own dedicated pool with a maximum depth of approximately 1 metre, while a separate paddling pool and colourful water-play area provide even more opportunities for splashing and exploring. For extra excitement, the aquatic area also features three slides, geysers, waterfalls, balneotherapy jets and relaxing benches, creating the perfect balance between play and relaxation. The main swimming pool has a maximum depth of approximately 3.5 metres. The aquatic complex is generally open from around 10:00 to 19:00 throughout the season, with the main swimming pool operating approximately from mid-June to mid-September. An adult swimming period is generally available in the morning from around 09:00 to 10:00. Please note that swimming shorts are not permitted and appropriate swimwear is required. The pools are not continuously lifeguarded, so children should always be supervised by an accompanying adult.

Camping Le Sainte Marie sits on the flat Mediterranean plain of the Pyrénées-Orientales, surrounded by pine trees, sandy coastal landscapes, vineyards and the waterways of the Têt. Within 15 kilometres, the scenery changes from dunes and beaches to lagoons, wetlands and agricultural countryside, with the foothills of the Pyrenees visible further inland. The nearby coast brings wide sandy beaches and warm Mediterranean light, while Catalan villages, cycle paths and nature areas create an appealing mix of seaside and countryside.

“My first recommendation at Camping Le Sainte Marie is to divide your holiday between the aquatic complex and the Mediterranean coast. The 1,500 m² waterpark is substantial enough to keep children occupied for hours, with heated water, slides, water games and relaxing balneotherapy features. For younger children, the paddling area and mini-farm provide plenty of variety beyond swimming. If you have a keen swimmer in the family, check the timetable for the 25-metre pool. The swimming basin is particularly useful for proper lengths, while an adult-only morning swimming period provides a quieter opportunity for exercise. Remember that swimming shorts are not permitted; trunks or swim briefs are required. I would also recommend walking or cycling to the wild beach. It is quieter than the main public beach and gives you a lovely change of scenery from the pool. The secure cycling network is a real advantage here, with around 40 kilometres of routes available from near the campsite. For families with younger children, make time for the mini farm. The ponies, horses, llamas, sheep and pygmy goats give the campsite a charming countryside character that complements its seaside setting. In July and August, I would check the children’s and teenagers’ programmes soon after arrival. The organised activities, sports tournaments and evening entertainment add considerably to the family atmosphere. Finally, keep one day free for Collioure. Go early, explore the colourful waterfront and historic streets, then return to Sainte-Marie for a relaxed evening by the pool.”
