About Camping Le Vieux Port Resort & Spa

At the very edge of France, where the Landes pine forest tumbles into Atlantic dunes, lies Le Vieux Port Resort & Spa — the south-west at its most spectacular. Set at the foot of the sand dunes with direct access to one of the immense fine sandy beaches of the Atlantic, this five-star village is hidden within a vast, fragrant pine forest in Messanges. A ten-minute stroll from ocean to pool, the beach opens before you — endless fine sand, surf that rolls for miles, lifeguards on watch, and that intoxicating light that makes the Côte d'Argent famous. You are in the heart of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, an hour and a half from Spain, at the southern tip of the coast. Location is pure Landes magic. Hossegor and Seignosse, Europe's surf capitals, are minutes north for world-class waves and chic boutiques. The Courant d'Huchet nature reserve — the Amazon of the Landes — offers kayaking through wild jungle. Vieux Boucau lake, traditional markets, pine-shaded cycle trails, and the charming bastides of the interior are all within easy reach. Biarritz, Bayonne and San Sebastián beckon for culture-rich day trips, while the resort itself lets you switch off completely. But the resort is a destination in itself. A 7,000m² XXL water park — five basins tempered to 25°C, plus a wave pool and heated indoor pool at around 28°C. Experience 11 slides, wave pools, a super fun aquasplash area and a surf machine that board sports enthusiasts will love — the first in a French five-star campsite. On the programme: Pentagliss with five 34-metre slides, a 52-metre Black Hole, 80-metre Lazy River, Kamikaze, Fun slide, and 400m² Aquasplash with mini Black Hole for younger pirates. Add Pirates Land theming, two heated Spas, two paddling pools, rooftop solarium and shaded restaurant terraces with views over the water. Beyond the water, everything has been thought of. On-site complex dedicated to swimming, active wellness and arena entertainment — restaurants, lounge bars, shop, multi-sports ground, spa with sauna, hammam, jacuzzi, massage, fitness, three kids clubs, concerts and shows in l'Arena du Vieux Port, the biggest events venue in the Landes, plus sports activities seven days a week. Pirate's Land is the star: a themed water park of 10,000 m² with 14 slides, 5 pools, 2 jacuzzis and an Aquasplash, heated from opening to closing day. Little swimmers have a paddling pool heated to 28°C, and a covered heated pool opens from Easter onwards. The wave lagoon rolls through 7 wave levels, and about 700 sunbeds line the pools. Slides are for ages 8 and up. In July and August the water park is open daily 10:00-20:00 and the wave lagoon 11:30-18:30. In low season the water park runs 10:30-18:30 on weekdays and 10:30-19:00 at weekends, and the wave lagoon 11:30-17:00. Access is by wristband and reserved for guests of the campsite. Tight-fitting lycra swimsuits are the rule in all pools.

Surf's up, even when the Atlantic is flat: the Vieux Port Surfing Wave simulator is right on site. Parents can book a private surf lesson while the children enjoy dedicated play areas nearby. Down on the beach, the waves of Messanges Sud are popular for body boarding, so bring a board and join in.

Messanges Sud beach is a few minutes' walk from the campsite, with direct access through the pines. Expect fine sand, Atlantic waves and a lifeguard on duty daily from 10:00 to 19:00 in July and August. The Snack de la plage is handy for a beach lunch, and dogs on a leash are welcome on the sand.

Boredom has no chance. The Soly Club runs activities for ages 4 to 12 every morning and afternoon except Tuesdays. Evenings bring a kids' disco or foam party Monday to Thursday at 20:30, a kids' meal on Thursdays and a kids' show on Fridays. Teens have their own club in high season. Everyone enjoys three shows a week in the Arena, plus a games room and It's a Knockout games on Mondays and Fridays.

Reception opens at 08:30 and stays open until 19:00 in low season and 20:30 in high season; late arrivals are welcomed by a night team.
