About Camping Vert Lavande

Fancy a French campsite where the soundtrack is birdsong rather than poolside speakers? Camping Vert Lavande brings a wonderfully different kind of family holiday to southern Aveyron: a small, friendly three-star campsite beside the Rance River, right in the village of Belmont-sur-Rance and surrounded by the red landscapes of the Rougier de Camarès. This is camping with plenty of character. Expect spacious, shaded pitches, comfortable mobile homes and unusual tent accommodation, plus a children's playground, table tennis, pétanque, laundry facilities, free Wi-Fi around reception and terrace, and the atmospheric Guinguette serving local Aveyron dishes, grilled specialities, salads, drinks and ice creams. And what about swimming? There is no pool inside the campsite, but the village swimming complex is only around five minutes' walk away. It has three outdoor pools, a paddling pool and supervised swimming, making it an easy addition to a summer day. Who is it best for? Families with younger children will particularly appreciate the gentle pace, playground, nearby pool and village facilities. Children under 10 are specifically highlighted by the campsite as its core family audience. Older children and teenagers may prefer the surrounding adventures: cycling, hiking, horse riding, karting and exploring the wider Aveyron. Recent visitor feedback repeatedly highlights the peaceful riverside setting, shade, cleanliness, welcoming hospitality, village location and food at the Guinguette. So, is this the place for a holiday packed with noisy entertainment? No. Is it the place for a family holiday with nature, freedom, swimming nearby and genuinely local atmosphere? Absolutely.

Surroundings

Camping Vert Lavande sits beside the Rance River in the heart of Belmont-sur-Rance, surrounded by the distinctive red hills of the Rougier de Camarès. Within 15 kilometres, the scenery is overwhelmingly rural: wooded valleys, pastureland, rolling hills, small hamlets, marked walking trails and the striking red-and-orange geology that gives the Rougier its character. Yet this is not remote wilderness. The campsite is tucked directly into the village, where old stone streets, the Collegiate Church, shops, bakery and local services provide a pleasantly human backdrop. Look further around and the Grands Causses landscape begins to open into broader plateaux, valleys and spectacular viewpoints.

“Camping Vert Lavande is one of those places where choosing the right pitch makes a noticeable difference. The campsite is beautifully shaded, and recent visitors particularly appreciate the mature greenery, spacious pitches and peaceful position beside the river. For a summer family stay, a shaded pitch is therefore worth requesting when booking. The second tip is to resist the temptation to use the car for every little errand. This is one of the campsite's big advantages. The village is immediately outside the entrance, with bakery, small grocery shop and other everyday facilities only a short walk away. The swimming pool is also around five minutes on foot, so pack the towels before breakfast and make an easy morning of it. For families, the campsite works particularly well with younger children. The playground is designed for ages 2–12, while the village provides additional sports facilities including tennis and the swimming complex. There is no large-scale kids' club or noisy entertainment programme, so older children looking for constant organised activities may prefer a bigger resort. Do make an evening reservation at the Guinguette. The campsite's restaurant specialises in simple, hearty Aveyron cooking, with local ingredients and regional specialities. Recent visitors repeatedly single out the food and welcoming service, making dinner here more than just the convenient option. And finally, bring walking shoes. The campsite is an excellent base for exploring the Rougier, with hiking, cycling and mountain-bike routes beginning locally. For a small campsite, the amount of countryside waiting beyond the entrance is surprisingly impressive.”
