About Flower Camping Au Bois Des Biches

Where do you find a pine-scented holiday with a heated water park, fairy-tale entertainment and the Atlantic close by? At Flower Camping Au Bois Des Biches, a 4-star campsite in Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez on the Vendée coast. Its 10 hectares of pine grove shelter rental accommodation and roomy pitches from 120 m², all wrapped in the enchanted world of Sélène, guardian of the Biches. What will the children beg to do first? Splash, of course. La Source is the play area for the smallest, with slides, a waterfall and a paddling pool, while La Baie offers heated pools for all ages, plus two slides and a jacuzzi. Afterwards, a pizza or burger on the terrace of La Taverne, right by the water, completes the day. And when the swimwear is dry? Kids' clubs run for every age from 0 to 17, and the kids' club for ages 6-12 is free of charge. Expect a mini farm, pedal go-karts, giant games, karaoke and, in July and August, donkey rides on Monday mornings. Evenings gather at Place du Vieux Chêne for shows, concerts and festive nights, and teenagers have a club of their own. Beach lovers are well looked after too: Sion Beach is about 5 km away, around 15 minutes by bike on the cycle trails from the campsite, and the village of Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez is 2 km away. The water park is the beating heart of the campsite. La Baie offers heated pools for all ages, while La Source is the play area for the youngest, with slides, a waterfall and a paddling pool. In total there are four pools: two outdoor, one indoor and a covered paddling pool of 100 m², plus two slides and a jacuzzi in one of the basins. All pools are heated for as long as the campsite is open, and the indoor pool is kept at 28°C from the start of the season. The pools are open 09:00-19:00 (09:00-20:00 in July and August) and the slides run 10:30-19:00. Lifeguards are on duty in July and August, swimming lessons are on offer, and sunbeds and parasols are free. A wristband is required and can be collected at reception. For swimwear, choose aqua shorts or swim briefs; swim shorts are not allowed, while swimskins and UV-protective garments are welcome if used only at the pool. A bathing cap is not mandatory.

La Taverne is the campsite restaurant, serving brasserie favourites such as pizza, burgers and salads indoors or on the terrace by the pool throughout the season. The bar opens from April. In July and August the snack bar offers takeaway pizza, burgers, chips, panini and sandwiches, and a whole roast chicken with potatoes can be ordered.

Bikes are your secret weapon: the cycle path in front of the site reaches Sion Beach in about 15 minutes. Toddlers rule at La Source, with its slides, waterfall and paddling pool, so plan a long, happy morning there. Mondays in July and August belong to the donkeys: children aged 3 to 12 can ride with a parent beside them. Travelling with a four-legged friend? We recommend reserving early, as pet places are limited. Arriving after dinner? Let the campsite know in advance, as arrival is possible until 23:45 and an envelope waits at reception. Evenings at Place du Vieux Chêne are made for lazy family nights, with shows, concerts and festive evenings. After a day of slides, the jacuzzi, sauna and hammam are the grown-ups' reward, and massages are on offer in July and August. Pleasant stay

I stayed there in a lodge tent (comfortable)! Facing the toilets and shower, which was a perfect location. Magical aquatic area for both kids and adults. The downside: the restaurant, an endless wait...
