Around Figline Valdarno, the landscape becomes more open and cultivated, with the Arno valley, farmland and small villages providing a gentler contrast to the hillside setting. Within roughly 15 kilometres, you can mix rural Tuscany with everyday Italian life: Figline's town centre, local shops, railway connections and restaurants are close by, while Greve and the Chianti wine country begin to unfold towards the west. It is countryside with culture, rather than countryside without a postcode.

That combination is part of its charm, but it is worth choosing your accommodation carefully. If you have toddlers, a buggy or anyone who dislikes steep walks, ask for accommodation closer to the facilities you intend to use most. The village operates its own little train, and guests regularly mention how useful it is for getting around this sprawling hillside resort. For families with younger children, I would make the Sant'Andrea water park a priority. The soft-bottomed lagoons are shallow and designed for safe play, while the spray park adds another excellent option when the children have exhausted the slides. Older children and teenagers may prefer the lower Girasole area, where the deeper pools and larger activities create a livelier swimming experience. The campsite's entertainment is another reason to stay onsite rather than treating Norcenni simply as a base. Recent family experiences repeatedly praise the animation team, children's activities, pool entertainment and evening shows. Finally, don't spend every day beside the pool. The real luxury here is the location. Florence is an easy excursion, Chianti begins almost at the gate, and Siena, San Gimignano and The Mall all make excellent day trips. Take a car if you want maximum freedom, but the railway station at Figline Valdarno also makes Florence surprisingly accessible.”
