“Camping Bella Italia is a large scale resort, so my first piece of specialist advice is simple: embrace the size rather than fighting it. The resort is effectively a holiday village with its own restaurants, supermarket, gelateria, sports facilities, entertainment, pools and lakefront. That means you can easily spend several days without getting back in the car. Families particularly appreciate the extraordinary choice of activities and the fact that the children can move from pool to playground to animation without anyone needing to organise a military operation. The waterpark is the star attraction, but do not overlook the little sandy Bel Beach — it is a useful change of scenery when the pools become busy. I would also recommend hiring bicycles if you enjoy exploring. The Mincio cycleway begins in Peschiera and offers an easy, mostly traffic-free route through the countryside. Borghetto sul Mincio makes an excellent cycling destination for families who want something more atmospheric than another pool afternoon. For Gardaland, book tickets ahead and go early. The same applies to the most popular lake excursions. If you have younger children, consider using the little tourist train into Peschiera rather than walking every time. Finally, allow at least one evening for Peschiera itself. The fortified old town, canals, harbour and lakeside restaurants give the holiday a distinctly Italian finale after a day of slides and splash battles.”
