“Camping Boschetto di Piemma is one of those Tuscan campsites where choosing the right accommodation position really matters. The site is terraced across a hillside, and some of the lower mobile homes and pitches involve a noticeable climb back towards reception and the main facilities. If you are travelling with a buggy, young children or simply prefer easy access, I would ask for accommodation closer to the upper facilities when possible. Several recent guests specifically highlight the peaceful woodland setting and the excellent location for visiting San Gimignano. For touring guests, the pitches are generally gravel and earth, with plenty of mature trees providing shade. Bring sturdy tent pegs: the ground can be hard. If you are travelling with a large motorhome, check the pitch dimensions and access before arrival rather than assuming every pitch is equally straightforward. The big summer bonus is the municipal swimming pool immediately beside the campsite. Entry is included for camping guests, but remember that a swimming cap is compulsory. The pool complex also has a children's section, hydromassage and a large green solarium, making it an excellent afternoon escape after sightseeing. And here is my favourite tip: leave the car parked and take the bus into San Gimignano. The stop is at the campsite entrance, making a town visit wonderfully simple. For Florence, however, consider driving to a railway station and continuing by train. Finally, reserve time for the campsite restaurant. Recent visitors regularly mention the pizza, Tuscan food, friendly setting and peaceful woodland atmosphere.”
