Camping Fontaine Du Roc – Devillac, Lot-et-Garonne, France
Tucked away in the gently rolling countryside of Lot-et-Garonne, Camping Fontaine Du Roc is one of those rare finds I love recommending to families who want space, authenticity and sunshine without the crowds. This is rural Nouvelle-Aquitaine at its most peaceful: sunflower fields, plum orchards, oak woodland and sleepy bastide villages dot the landscape. You’re perfectly positioned between Dordogne and the Lot Valley – ideal for market mornings, château visits and relaxed riverside lunches.
What makes it special? First, the sense of scale. With spacious pitches and comfortable mobile homes set in greenery, this is a calm, friendly campsite where children can roam safely and parents can truly unwind. There’s a heated outdoor swimming pool with sun terrace, a restaurant serving regional dishes, a bar for evening drinks, playground areas, table tennis and seasonal entertainment. Looking for somewhere that suits children aged 4–14 particularly well? This is it. Why? Because it combines freedom, manageable size and just enough facilities to keep everyone happy without overwhelming stimulation. Prefer glamping? Touring with your own caravan? Insider tips from our Campsite Specialist
Guests consistently praise the tranquillity and the warm welcome from the owners – so my first tip is simple: arrive before sunset, take a stroll around the grounds and introduce yourself at the bar. It sets the tone for the week. Reviews often mention how spacious and well-maintained the pitches are, so if you’re touring with a caravan, ask for a slightly elevated spot for the best views across the fields. Families love the relaxed pool area; go mid-morning for peaceful swims before it becomes social in the afternoon. The onsite restaurant receives compliments for themed evenings – book early in high season. If you’re staying in a mobile home, previous guests recommend bringing a small fan for peak summer heat. Explore local night markets in nearby bastide villages; they’re repeatedly highlighted as holiday highlights. Finally, don’t overschedule. The magic of Camping FONTAINE DU ROC lies in slow breakfasts, long swims and spontaneous countryside drives.
