About Camping Lou Pignada

What happens when you drop a 5-star campsite into a Landes pine forest and take the cars away? You get Camping Lou Pignada in Messanges: a shady, relaxed holiday village where children roam on foot and by bike, and parents wake up to birdsong instead of engines. Cars rest in the secured car park at the entrance, so the paths belong to families. And the water? That is where the show begins. The heated water park holds 1,400 m² of water, with two swimming pools, two paddling pools, a spa, three slides, a lazy river and a covered heated pool for moody Atlantic days. Deckchairs and parasols are free, and the 200 m² rooftop solarium is made for post-slide sunbathing. Is the sea far? Not at all. The beach at Messanges is 2.5 km away along the Vélodyssée cycle path, and in July and August a free shuttle runs there from reception on most days. Surfers head for the south beach, where Mana Surf School gives lessons. Back at base you will find a restaurant, a poolside snack bar, a minimarket, sports fields, a playground, a mini farm and a gym. Who will love it most? Families with children and teens. Choose from two swimming pools, two paddling pools with water games, a spa, a lazy river and a covered heated pool, so swimming works whatever the weather. Three slides keep all ages busy: one welcomes children from 3 years, the other two from 10. Deckchairs and parasols are free, and a 200 m² rooftop solarium adds extra sunbathing space. A wristband gives you access. The pools are open 10:00-20:00 in July and August and 10:00-18:00 in other months, while the slides run daily in high summer and at weekends in spring and early autumn. A poolside snack bar is open all day.

The scenery is gloriously green, with the étang de Léon, lac de Soustons, the étangs blanc and noir at Seignosse and the lac marin of Vieux-Boucau all nearby. The Vélodyssée cycle path gives direct access from the campsite. The centres of Messanges and Vieux-Boucau, with shops and restaurants, are 2 km away. Seignosse is 12 km off, and the coastal towns of Hossegor and Capbreton are about 20 km away. Outside the peak weeks the area turns delightfully peaceful.

“Cars may drive to your rental only to load and unload on arrival and departure day, after which the shaded car park at the entrance is yours. We recommend keeping your wristband on from day one, as it opens the water park and the beach shuttle. In July and August the shuttle leaves reception every 20 minutes from 11:00 to 13:00 and returns from 15:30 to 19:00, daily except Saturday. We recommend a slide briefing for little ones: one slide welcomes children from 3 years, the other two from 10. If surfing might be a thing, we recommend booking a lesson with Mana Surf School at Messanges south beach, a favourite with surfers and bodyboarders. We also recommend a day at Lac de Soustons, 12 km away, for stand-up paddle, catamaran, kayak or windsurfing. Bring bikes or hire them on site and follow the Vélodyssée to the coast. Kids love the Courant d'Huchet (9 km) and the dinosaur park in Soustons (10 km) for easy half-day outings. Travelling with a dog?
