About Camping La Scogliera

Fancy a Puglia holiday with sea views, swimming pools and a serious dose of Salento sunshine? Camping La Scogliera sits high above the Adriatic between Santa Cesarea Terme and Castro, surrounded by Mediterranean greenery and overlooking one of southern Italy's most spectacular stretches of coastline. The big attraction is the aquatic area: three outdoor pools, including a 14 x 8-metre main pool, two children's pools, water-play features and slides. Older children will naturally make a beeline for the slides, while younger ones have their own splash areas. Add a playground, outdoor fitness area, football, tennis, padel, pétanque, table tennis and summer entertainment and there is plenty to keep active families busy. Is the sea nearby? Absolutely – Porto Miggiano is roughly 1.8 km away, and the campsite operates a complimentary shuttle to the beach. The surrounding coast is rocky rather than a classic sandy-beach resort, so bring water shoes and a snorkel. You will thank us later. What about dining? The panoramic restaurant and pizzeria is one of the campsite's real pleasures, serving Mediterranean dishes and pizza from its sea-view terrace. Recent holidaymakers have particularly appreciated the spectacular location, friendly staff, attractive accommodation and the combination of pool and coastline. For families, we would particularly recommend La Scogliera for children around 5–16. Younger children have dedicated pools and play areas, while older children get more from the slides, sports, snorkelling and Salento excursions. And parents? Aperitivo with a sea view. Obviously.

The campsite is sloping and terraced, with significant gradients between different areas. Internal road surface: The current operator does not publish a reliable technical specification confirming whether all internal roads are asphalt, paved or gravel. I therefore recommend not specifying one universal surface. Parking: One vehicle is permitted on the campsite. Some pitches/accommodation allow parking alongside; otherwise, a separate parking area is provided nearby. Additional vehicles must use the external car park.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, there is free wifi at Camping La Scogliera, but it is only available in the common areas (such as the reception, the bar, and the restaurant) and some parts of the campsite. The signal is therefore not available throughout the entire campsite.

Surroundings

Camping La Scogliera occupies a panoramic, elevated position on Salento's Adriatic coast between Santa Cesarea Terme and Castro. Within 15 kilometres, the scenery is wonderfully varied: limestone cliffs plunge towards turquoise water, while rocky coves, sea caves and pine-covered slopes create a distinctly Mediterranean backdrop. Inland, olive groves, vineyards, dry-stone walls and low rolling farmland give way to small villages and traditional Salento countryside. Santa Cesarea Terme adds elegant seaside architecture and thermal springs, while Castro provides a picturesque harbour and dramatic coastline. Porto Miggiano, only a short drive away, is especially striking, with clear water surrounded by pale limestone cliffs. This is rural Puglia with a salty, spectacular edge.

“My first piece of advice for Camping La Scogliera is to make the most of the view. The elevated position is one of the campsite's biggest assets, so if you have a choice of accommodation, I would favour a mobile home with a terrace and sea outlook. It is particularly lovely in the evening when the light starts to soften over the Adriatic. Don't treat the pool as a substitute for the sea. The best holiday rhythm here is to alternate the two: pool and slides in the afternoon, then a trip to Porto Miggiano for a swim and some snorkelling. The complimentary beach shuttle is genuinely useful, particularly when you would rather not tackle the local roads and parking. For the coast, pack proper water shoes. This is rocky Salento rather than a soft-sand beach destination, and the clearest water is often around rocky coves. A mask and snorkel are also well worth putting in the suitcase. Families should make time for the restaurant terrace. The panoramic setting is a big part of the experience, and an early dinner followed by a sunset stroll makes a very easy holiday evening. The campsite sits on sloping, terraced ground, so I would bear that in mind if travelling with a pushchair or anyone with reduced mobility. Homair specifically warns that the steep gradients can make getting around difficult. Finally, keep the car available for day trips. Castro, Otranto, Porto Badisco and Lecce each offer something different, and La Scogliera works particularly well as a base for exploring rather than somewhere you need to stay all day.”
