Best time to visit Apulia

Apulia's warm, sunny climate makes it a rewarding destination whenever your holiday dates fall. Summer is the natural moment for the full beach-and-pool programme: swimming from sandy beaches, the Aqua-In slides at Lamaforca Camping Village, the 1,500 m² pool at Camping La Masseria, and evening shows or cinema under the stars. If you can travel outside school holidays, you can pair easy beach days with white villages, olive groves and Gallipoli's old town at a relaxed pace. Our travel advisers will gladly match your dates to the right campsite.

Practical tips

  • Pick your coast: Gargano's Adriatic shore (Peschici, Vieste), the Adriatic around Santa Cesarea Terme and Lecce, or the Ionian Sea at Gallipoli. Our 12 campsites cover all three.
  • Beach on the doorstep: Camping Capo Vieste, Camping Punta Lunga, Camping La Vecchia Torre and Torre Rinalda Beach Camping & Resort all sit directly on the sea, so beach bags can stay light.
  • Travelling with a dog: Camping Baia Holiday San Nicola, Camping Capo Vieste and Lamaforca Camping Village all welcome dogs and have dog facilities.
  • Easy arrival: choose a mobile home to unpack and head straight to the beach. Camping Punta Lunga and Camping Baia Holiday San Nicola also offer camping pitches for tents and caravans.
  • Water-slide days: Lamaforca Camping Village has two Taboga slides and a Kamikaze slide, free for guests. Camping La Scogliera has three outdoor pools with slides.
  • Local flavour: book a winery visit near Gallipoli to taste Salento wine, then make aperitivo your daily deadline.
  • Evenings: Camping La Vecchia Torre shows films under the stars, and Lamaforca Camping Village has a mini club and evening shows.
  • When to go: summer is best for the full beach-and-pool programme. Outside school holidays you get white villages and olive groves at a calmer pace. Our advisers will match your dates to a campsite.

Our tip: Rent a car if you are not taking your own vehicle. Disctances are long and driving in Puglia is not as wild as Rome, roads are relatively free from traffic and not as bad as around Naples for example. Puglia is quite large and to see many pleaces having a car will save a lot of time. If you book a rent a car months ahead it is a lot cheaper. If you want to roll out of bed and onto the sand, book a campsite directly on the sea. In Vieste we love Camping Capo Vieste for families with little ones. It has a private sandy beach and a shallow children's pool for safe splashing. Camping La Masseria has a large lagoon type pool and large children's playgrounds. Near Vieste the Gargano watersports facilities at many camspites are ready when the kids turn into teenagers. Camping Punta Lunga suits families who like a bit of action, with sheltered sandy bays beside the campsite, windsurfing and watersports, plus Gargano nature and Vieste to explore. Want beach and culture in one holiday? Torre Rinalda Beach Camping & Resort in Lecce has direct access to a sandy Adriatic beach, plenty of swimming facilities and cultural attractions close by. Camping Village Le Diomedee pairs a private sandy beach with family entertainment, and dogs are welcome with dog facilities. Pack flip-flops, a good book and a sense of leisure, and let the tide set your daily schedule.
